An undertrial escapes from court premises after giving slip to cops

Jalandhar, Jul 18 (UNI) An undertrial escaped from the court premises after giving the slip to cops escorting him here today.

The undertrial, identified as Sukhdev Singh, was brought to the district judicial complex for hearing in a case registered against him under the NDPS Act, police sources said.

The undertrial dodged the cops and ran away when he was freed from handcuffs for hearing in the court of Additional Session Judge K C Gupta.

Police have launched a manhunt to nab the undertrial. A police party has been sent to Sanghowal, the native village of the accused, to trace him.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the negligent cops.
