Worker dies in Vedant plant
Sambalpur, Jul 17 (UNI) A labourer working in Vedanta plant at Jharsuguda was killed today after a crane ran over him.
The deceased, identified as Khageswar Sahu (28), was a resident of Brajrajnagar.
The accident took place when one wheel of the crane got detached and it ran over Sahu, who was going on a bicycle.
Tension gripped the factory premises for hours but subsided when the management agreed for Rs 5.5 lakh compensation to the next kin of the victim.
The workers allowed the body to be shifted to hospital for post-mortem, sources said.
A few days back, another worker from West Bengal was critically injured when he fell from a height inside the plant.
The boy had been admitted in VSS medical college and hospital at Burla in a critical condition.
