2 killed in road accident; fire in police station in Kashmir

Srinagar Jul 17 (UNI) Two people were killed and five others were injured in an accident and a fire broke out in a police station in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said two people were injured when their vehicle collided with a culvert at Kaigam crossing at Awantipora in south Kashmir.

The injured were admitted to hospital, where one Balwant Singh died.

A boy identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Wani fell down from a tractor and died on the spot, at Arwa in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.

Three people were injured in various road accidents at Edigah gate, SRTC bridge and Gassipora crossing. The injured were hospitalised.

There was an accidental fire in one wooden shed of Habib Mir at Trehgam Sector in Kupwara. Sources said the fire broke out due to leakage of a gas cylinder in the Jawans' mess building of Dooru Police Station, causing partial damage to it. No one was injured.
