Three tourists killed in road accident
Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, Jul 16 (UNI) Three tourists were killed on the spot and three critically injured when their car collided head-on with a truck near Vaniyampathi village on Rajapalayam-Srivilliputhur highway here, this morning.
State Special Branch (SB) police sources said the victims were on their way to Courtallam falls from Pudukottai, when the tragedy occurred. The cotton bales-laden truck, coming in the opposite direction, was proceeding to Madurai from Tenkasi.
The injured were rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. The truck driver was secured for interrogation.
Following the accident, vehicular traffic on the highway was affected for more than three hours.
