UP govt unfriendly to Amethi projects: Rahul

Amethi, Jul 15 (UNI) Congress General Secretary and local MP today charged the Uttar Pradesh government with not assisting the implementation of five big projects proposed for his constituency.

''UP government is not acting friendly to the industrial schemes meant for Amethi,'' Mr Gandhi said at a function held for new Bar Association Building in Gauriganj tehsil during the second day of his visit here.

Congress wants to bring development, but all in all five proposed projects could not be implemented in Amethi due to lack of interest by the state government, he charged.

The said projects comprised Hindustan Paper Mill, National Automatic Testing Centre, CRPF Group Centre, Institute of Hotel Management and National Institute of Pharmaceutical.

Later, laying the foundation stone of 24 houses under 'Adarsh Pradarshan Awaseeya Yojana', the party's youth icon said his grandmother Indira Gandhi always believed that education and employment were secondary demands of a person after basic needs viz food, clothing and shelter.

Therefore, the UPA had always thought about the commonman's betterment and ran various programmes in this regard in the past four years, Mr Gandhi added.

Earlier in the day, Mr Gandhi had met various people at Sanjay Ganhi Guest House in Munshiganj and heard their problems.

The MP was on a three day visit to his parliamentary constituency here.
