TRS embarks on prayers for Telangana State
Hyderabad, Jul 15 (UNI) The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) today began a series of programmes, starting with special ''poojas and abhishekhams' in temples in Telangana, to exert pressure on the Congress ahead of the trust vote in Parliament on July 22.
The novel programme involved offering prayers in temples, churches and mosques in the Telangana Region to change the minds of Congress MPs so that they exerted pressure on the Congress High Command to immediately announce statehood for Telangana.
Former State Minister N Narasimha Reddy led the special prayers at the Ramalingeshwaraswamy Temple in the Banjara Hills.
The TRS had already decided to vote against the motion of confidence on the Manmohan Singh Government as it had not received any positive response from the UPA Government for adoption a Cabinet resolution on separate state for Telangana.
The party would also stage rasta rokos in the region tomorrow.
This would be followed by picketing before the houses of Congress MPs, including Secunderabad MP Anjankumar Yadav, for maintaining silence on the issue, TRS General Secretary Madhusadanchary told mediapersons.
A ''education bandh'' would be organised on July 18 and ''Telangana Bandh'' on July 19 to build pressure on the ruling Congress on the Telangana issue ahead of the Trust Vote, he added.
