NCP seeks lifting of ban on export of maize
New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today sought lifting of ban on the export of maize saying such restrictions adversely impact the interests of farmers by the way of keeping prices of the crop low and un-numerative.
The NCP has urged both Mr Pawar and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram that the government's order of imposing a ban on export of farm products was 'totally wrong' since the export of petroleum products was going unhindered which were contribting more to the rising prices and inflation in the country. And, at the same time, the oil companies are making huge profits from export of their products as they are not supposed to give any tax on such exports, NCP's national convenor Suraj Yadav said in a statement here today.
