Land acquisition completed for Vallarpadam projects
Kochi, July 15 (UNI) Land acquisition for road and rail connectivity to the Vallarpadam International Container Transshipment Terminal has been completed, Ernakulam District Collector M Beena informed today.
Talking to reporters here, she said the land acquisition had been completed as per the assurance given by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan in the Assembly that the process would be completed by today.
Ms Beena said 4.3076 hectares of land for rail connectivity and 43.75 hectares of land for road connectivity were acquired.
''While the process of registration for rail projects had been completed and handed over to the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, the registration of land acquired for road connectivity was progressing,'' she added.
As per the directions of the High Court, the district administration would be proceeding with the rehabilitation process for those displaced by the acquisition process, she noted.
