Increase haj quota for J
Srinagar, Jul 15 (UNI) The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Central Haj Committee to increase the number of seats for Jammu and Kashmir so that all left out intending pilgrims are accommodated.
A spokesman of the PDP in a statement here today demanded that haj quota be increased from 6,000 to at least for the state so that the left out aspirants for this year get an opportunity to perform the annual pilgrimage.
He said that the government should find a way-out so that all the left-out intending pilgrims are accommodated.
The spokesman criticized the central and state Haj Committees for not making the allocation proportional to the population and stressed for an immediate increase in the Haj quota.
The state secretary of the Communist Party of India (M) Mohammad Yousuf Targami has also urged Central Haj Committee to increase the quota for the state.
