Haryana farmer included in advisory panel on fisheries

Chandigarh, Jul 15 (UNI) In order to give pisciculture a boost, an educated young farmer of Baland village in Rohtak district Sanjay Lakra has been appointed a member of Advisory Committee constituted for promoting the activities of fisheries.

Stating this here today, a Haryana Fisheries department spokesman said that in order to promote the activities of fisheries and breeding by the Central Institute of Fisheries Training, Mumbai, an Advisory Committee had been constituted under the chairmanship of Dr P V Dehadarai, Deputy Director General (Retd).

He said Haryana Fisheries department Director P V Singh, Punjab Fisheries department Director D S Sayal, former Chief Scientist of N D R I Karnal J C Markande had been appointed as Members of the Advisory Committee besides Sanjay Lakra.

Dr V K Sharma, Incharge Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Lahli (Rohtak) had been appointed as Member Secretary of the Committee.

The spokesman said the committee would organise quarterly meetings to discuss various issues for promotion of fisheries. He said the suggestions provided by the committee would be considered promptly for the development of fisheries in the area.

He said Mr Sanjay Lakra was supplying superior quality fish seed in Haryana and nearby states besides producing Jhinga fish. Mr Lakra appealed to the unemployed youths to adopt fisheries as a livelihood.
