Hamid release book on Islamic philosohy

New Delhi, Jul 15 (UNI) Vice President Hamid Ansari today released a book titled 'Islami Tarraqqi Pasandi' authored by the Late Ali Jawad Zaidi at a function here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President said the book deals with issues related to making the lives of the common people better and purposeful.

He suggested the book should be translated into Hindi and English so that more and more people could take advantage of it.

The book is a collection of essays with the underlying theme 'progressive nature of Islamic philosophy'. Progressiveness in Islam has been looked at from various angles and discussed under relevant heads. It shows the contribution that Islam made to the society and several new concepts which are in currency today.

It is in part an attempt to place the teachings of Islam in their social and historical context, to ensure better and proper understanding about the true nature and essence of Islamic teaching, an official release here said.
