Explosion in mines triggers panic in MP villages

Tikamgarh, MP, July 15 (UNI) Illegal mining and explosions posed threat to sixth-century Sun Temple located at Khera-Madkhera village in this district.

Two minors lost their eyesights, one became handicapped and several villagers sustained injuries due to the explosions carried out for mining diaspor ore. It is used to prepare cosmetics, toothpaste, insecticides and pesticides.

Explosion caused panic among the villagers as it caused cracks in their houses. Stones hurled in the explosions caused injuries to local denizens.

Sarpanch Kashibai Yadav and former Sarpanch Ram Ratan Mishra sent several petitions to the local administration but to no avail.

''If no concrete action was taken then a complaint will be lodged with the chief minister in this direction,'' she added.

District Collector K P Rahi assured that he would visit the spot to probe the matter and would take action against the culprits.

''There are more than three dozen of legal mines where explosion is prohibited,'' District Mineral Officer P P Rai added.
