Uttar Pradesh: Dead man held for fraud
Jaunpur, Jul 15: Police today produced in court a conman and his brother, who reportedly died seven and a half years ago.
In 1994, Ramraj, of Mathura village had sold his land to one Lal Bahadur, over which his brother Banshilal went to court and alleged that Bahadur had forged the registration papers as his brother went missing 20 years ago and later died in 2001, police said.
He also produced forged death certificate of Rajbhar and got the land transferred on his name.
Later, Bahadur lodged a case against Banshi under Section 156 (3) CrPC and filed an application in the court stating that Rajbhar was alive.
Court had directed probe into the case after which the siblings were held late last night.
Duo, who were produced in the court today, have been sent in 14-day judicial remand.
