Congress finds fault with CPI(M) for including Speaker's name
New Delhi, July 15 (UNI) The Congress today criticised the CPI(M) for submitting to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil a list including the name of Speaker Somnath Chatterjee along with other MPs of the Left Parties who withdraw support to the Government.
"This is atrocious," AICC General Secretary in charge of media Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.
Maintaining that the Speaker's post was 'party-less', he asked : "What kind of sanctity do they give to the Constitutional position such as Speaker ?" "The CPI(M) and its General Secretary Prakash Karat would regret one day or the other for doing this," he said.
He
also
termed
'unfortunate"
the
statement
of
Mr
Karat
that
"Comrade
Somnath
Chatterjee
would
take
his
own
decision
(on
resigning
from
the
Speaker's
post)."
Asked
if
there
was
anything
wrong
in
addressing
the
Speaker
as
a
'comrade,"
Mr
Moily
asked
"what
is
wrong
(in
it)?"
