Cloud seeding in AP set to begin: Expert

Visakhpatnam, July 15 (UNI) Expert Member of Andhra Pradesh State Cloud Seeding Project T Shivaji today said the cloud seeding operations in the state would begin in a week at Hyderabad, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam in the first phase.

Informing to the media here, Prof Shivaji said there was an urgent need for cloud seeding to increase rainfall.

The injection of chemicals into the clouds cause to produce additional rainfall of up to 25 percent.

He said presently the cloud seeding operations were proposed to be conducted by the State Governments of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh among others due to the prevailing large scale water scarcity.
