ACB arrests land inspector while accepting bribe
Beed, July 15 (UNI) Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today arrested a land inspector in the taluka land record office, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a farmer here.
According to ACB sources, Prabhu Nirmal, a resident of Khundras taluka, had applied for measurement of his agricultural land in survey no 60 on July 4, 2007. However, officials did not pay heed.
Later, when Nirmal's son Gahivinath contacted the officials on July 1, 2008, they asked him to contact land inspector Prabhu Thapade, who allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,000 per measurement from them.
On the complaint of Prabhu Nirmal, ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Sirikar and his squad laid a trap and arrested Thapde.
A case has been registered against Thapde in Shivaji Nagar Police Station under section 7, 13 (1) (D) and 13 (2) of Anti Corruption Act.
