Aurangabad, Jul 13 (UNI) The activists of BJP and NCP clashed with each other today over the burning of effigy of former party leader Gopinath Munde here.

The incident took place in Mukundwaid area of the city. Several vehicles were damaged and police resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse the mob leaving some injured including a BJP leader, Sanjay Kenekar.

Several injured activists of both parties have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and additional forces have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

According to the sources, some BJP activists had burnt the effigy of an NCP leader Ajeet Pawar in Pune on Saturday.

Henceforth, local NCP activists gathered in Gajanan temple chowk with effigy of Munde to burn it.

After receiving information, the BJP activists reached the spot to stop the act of burning effigy creating tension in the area.

However, the police's timely intervention and appeal to the activists of both parties to vacate the place fell on deaf ears.

BJP leader, Sanjay Kenekar refused to obey police's request by saying that police should take effigy of Munde in their possession from NCP activists first.

However, the NCP activists marched to Garkheda Chowk and burnt the effigy on fire.

This resulted in clashes between the two party groups.

Going through the seriousness of the situation police resorted to mild lathi charge and dispersed the mob. A compalint was lodged with Mukundwadi police station against NCP workers.
