Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakta remembered in Kolkata
Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) Poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, who translated the Ramayana into Nepali for the first time, was remembered on his 194th birth anniversary today.
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim led a function to pay tribute to the poet at the Assembly House. He placed a wreath on a photo of the poet. He was followed by Nepal's Consulate General in Kolkata S M Shreatha, All India Minority Forum secetary Idris Ali and All India Nepali Bhasha Parishad Chairman Raj Gopal Bhandari.
A portion of Alipur Road was renamed to immortalise the nineteenth century Nepali poet.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharjee inaugurated the funtion at Gopal Nagar More in south Kolkata.
