K'taka to allot more funds for newspapers, journalists
Mysore, Jul 13 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today assured that more funds would be allocated in the Budget to be presented by him on July 17 for the development of small and medium newspapers and journalists in the state.
Speaking at the 'Press Day,' organised by the Mysore District Journalists Association here, he said benefits, including free bus coupons, house sites and monetary assistance to the senior journalists, would be given during his period.
The funds for the Department of Information would be increased in the budget, he added.
Suggesting the media persons to report true facts without any fear and favour, he said media should try to give more coverage for development projects and point out lapses of the various programmes taken up by the government.
He sought the cooperation from the journalists to turn Karnataka into a model state in the country in terms of development on all fronts.
The Chief Minister also assured to provide a suitable place for constructing a building for the Mysore District Journalists Association here.
