Drinking water crisis continues in Lumshnong village
Shillong, Jul 13 (UNI) The scarcity of drinking water continues to confront the villagers in Lumshnong village under Jaintia Hills district, which reportedly emerged after a cement factory was set up in the locality.
Despite the factory owner's repeated assurance, no steps towards mitigating the crisis were in sight, alleged the Lumshnong unit of Khasi Student's Union's Lumshnong, adding the supply of drinking water through vehicles, instituted by the company since last year, was insufficient.
Union sources also admitted that the company had earlier asked the village Dorbar to identify the source of water, so that it could cater drinking water to the villagers through pipelines.
In a letter, the firm had been urged to come up with its solution before September 15, said union sources.
