AIKS demand revamp of customs duty on cotton
Vijayawada, July 13 (UNI) The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) today demanded that the Centre revamp the customs duty on imported cotton and announce Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton at Rs 3,500 per quintal.
Addressing a press conference here, AIKS Vice President K Nageswararao condemned the Centre's announcement abolishing ten per cent of the customs duty and four per cent of the special additional duty on imported cotton, causing fall in prices of domestic cotton.
The AIKS demanded that the Centre withdraw the announcement and protect the cotton farmers in the country.
The AIKS would organise 'Jatas' at Srikakulam, Nellore and Vijayawada from July 15 on farmers' issues.
