Srinagar, Jul 12 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said her party was all set to expose and discuss the chain of sequences, which generated outrage across Jammu and Kashmir, claiming about a dozen of innocent lives.
Addressing a day-long session of members of the party's general council, Ms Mufti said taking reins of the State government in 2002 was a crown of thorns coupled with the inherited follies committed by the National Conference (NC) leadership in its 30-year-long regime.
She said countless blunders of the NC regime, be it draconian laws like POTA, Special Task Force, corruption and favoritism in the recruitment process, and sense of insecurity, the task ahead for her party was tough and that too with only 16 MLAs.
Ms Mufti said in spite of all challenges, the PDP under the leadership of its farsighted and a visionary Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed withstood all odds and did succeed in effecting a noticeable change in the situation on the ground.
She alleged Mr Sayeed withstanding all challenges, never allowed the sinister designs of the former governor S K Sinha to succeed.
She said the land transfer as was demanded by the former governor Mr Sinha for Amaranth Shrine Board was categorically refused by Mr Sayeed who despite the resignations threats given by some Congress ministers stuck to his stand, foreseeing the repercussions of any such move.
Ms Mufti said the Shrine Board being one of the follies of the NC, created in connivance with BJP was to implement the communal agenda of the fascist forces.
''And unfortunately after the transfer of power Mr Sinha as the governor and chairman of the Shrine Board acted as a parallel government in close proximity with Ghulam Nabi Azad.
She said Mr Sinha like a politician started criticizing PDP's agenda and proposals, be it withdrawal of troops, duel currency, regional or council.
He also went on to the extent of calling PDP as anti national and a supporter of militants,'' she alleged.
Ms Mufti reiterated that her party was a people's party, which in no circumstances would compromise on the wishes and aspirations of its people and it would always stand by people.
She said the latest pullout from the state government was an example, which should open eyes of the PDP critics, and detractors who committed blunders in their 30-year regime but never ever took responsibility, not to talk of leaving power.
