Police arrest a notorious thief, recover Rs 2.50 lakh

Tiruchirapalli, July 12(UNI) Police arrested a notorious thief and recovered stolen articles worth Rs 2.50 lakh from him, here last night.

Police said a patrolling party intercepted Madheswaran(54) of Lalgudy, when he was moving around the Chinthamani Chathiram bus terminal area in a suspicious manner. During interrogation, he confessed that he had committed crimes.

Police said they recovered stolen goods based on the information given by Madheswaran, who was detained three times before and was wanted for several cases.

He was remanded to judicial custody today, police added.
