Manmohan Singh visits families of Kabul blast victims

{image-manmohan singh_11072008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Jul 11 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, July 11 visited families of Brigadier R D Mehta and IFS officer V Venkateswara Rao, who were killed in the bomb attack at the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

Dr. Singh first went to Brigadier Mehta's residence in Ghaziabad and then to Rao's in New Delhi. He announced a life time financial support to the families of both. On Thursday, Dr. Singh visited All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to enquire about the health of two Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel who were injured during the attack. A sum of Rs. two lakh has been sanctioned to them from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

The two personnel were airlifted from Afghanistan and are currently undergoing treatment at the AIIMS trauma centre.
