Siemens bags order from Tata BlueScope Steel

New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) Siemens Ltd today said it has bagged an order from Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd to supply mechanical and electrical equipment to a production complex at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.

The contract execution will be led by combined Indian and European teams to ensure seamless cooperation with the customer.

Tata BlueScope Steel, a 50:50 joint venture of Tata Steel Ltd and Australia's BlueScope Steel Ltd, is currently building a production complex for manufacturing high-quality surface-treated steel for use in the building industry.

The complex's hot-dip zincalume line will have an annual production capacity of 2,50,000 metric tonnes and the colour coating line will be able to handle 1,50,000 metric tonnes of steel per year, a statement said.

''For both the processing lines, Siemens is to engineer and supply all the mechanical and electrical equipment as well as the basic and process automation. Siemens is additionally responsible for the installation work and will also supervise the commissioning,'' the statement added.

The design is based on optimised synergy of equipment between both lines. The main equipment will be manufactured and tested in the Siemens VAI workshop at Montbrison in France.
