Lawyers stage sit-in at High Court in Jammu

Jammu, Jul 10 (UNI) Agitating against cancellation of land transfer order to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, hundreds of lawyers under the banner of Bar Association of Jammu today staged a peaceful protest dharna outside J &K High Court complex here.

Led by Mr B S Slathia, president Bar Association of Jammu, around 200 lawyers took out a rally amid slogans against Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, outgoing Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Janipur area.

''We have suspended our work for the 10th consecutive day and the agitation will continue unless order of land transfer will not be cancelled,'' Mr Slathia told UNI asserting, ''a committee of senior advocates had been formed to legally examine the recommendation made by the state Governor which led to revocation of the land transfer order.'' Mr Slathia also appealed to all Bar associations of the Jammu province to suspend their work in support of the agitation.
