Kerala HC rejects Harrisons Malayalam plea on land repossession
Kochi, Jul 10 (UNI) The Kerala high court today declined to quash a decision of the state government to take steps to repossess the land held by plantations company Harrisons Malayalam Pvt. Ltd. on the ground that its lease period is over.
Justice S Sirijagan also declined to quash the decision of the government to appoint Justice L Manoharan to peruse the documents on the basis of which a high-level committee had recommended the repossession of the land from Harrisons Malayalam.
The court said there was absolutely no reason to suspect that the government would decide against the petitioner without complying with natural justice and procedures provided for.
Petitioner Harrisons Malayalam had challenged the government decision, contending that it had not been provided a copy of the committee report, recommending repossession.
