Girl commits suicide, boy drowns in Kashmir
Srinagar Jul 10 (UNI) A 16-yer-old girl, Hafeeza, committed suicide while a five-year-old boy drowned in the Kashmir valley, official sources said today.
They said Hafeeza consumed some poisonous substance in her Kralpora house in the frontier district of Kupwara. She was immediately rushed to hospital where she died.
It was, however, not immediately known why she took the extreme step.
At an average of two people were committing suicide or trying to end their lives in the Kashmir valley daily despite a fatwa by muslim ulmas declaring it an un-islamic act.
The sources said a boy Danish Ahmad Dar was drowned in the river Rambiara in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
