DU announces measures to check ragging, sexual harassment
New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) The Delhi University has announced a series of measures to check cases of ragging and sexual harassment during the new academic year 2008-09.
At a meeting of the proctoral board of the Delhi University, held last evening to deliberate measures to facilitate smooth induction of students during the new academic year, a number of important decisions were taken to maintain discipline and prevention of ragging in the University and the colleges.
The meeting, attended by senior officials of the Delhi Police and the University, decided that the Supreme Court judgement on ragging be strictly implemented, requested college hostels to restrict entry of outsiders, called for extra vigil at all eating joints in the campus, formation of disciplinary squads in colleges, police pickets to be placed outside every college and mobile patrolling to monitor incidents of ragging.
The colleges have been requested to strictly enforce the rules and regulations pertaining to maintainence of discipline, prohibition and punishment for ragging and policy against sekual harrassment.
