CR earns Rs 3.57 cr from tickeless travellers in June
Mumbai, Jul 10 (UNI) In massive ticketless travellers drive during the last month, Central Railway (CR) has earned Rs 3.57 crore as penalty from passengers travelling without ticket, CR Spokesperson A K Singh said here today.
''During the month we have registered 1.08 lakh cases of ticketless or irregular travel including unbooked luggage and recovered fine amount of Rs 3.57 crore as against Rs 2.92 crore during the corresponding period last year,'' Mr Singh informed.
He said 3.48 lakh cases of ticketless or irregular travels have been registered in first quarter of current financial year as compared to 3.19 lakh of corresponding period of previous year. The amount realised from these cases is Rs 12.24 crore as against Rs 10.61 crore during the corresponding period last year.
The department has also detected 299 cases of unlawful transfer of reserved tickets during last month and an amount of Rs 1.61 lakh has been realised besides confiscation of tickets worth Rs 66,000, he added.
