13.86 hect of area comes under green cover in June

Chandigarh, July 10 (UNI) The Chandigarh Forest Department has covered 13.86 hectare of area under plantation on public and forest land during June 2008.

As many as 11717 seedlings have been planted on Public and Forest Land.

This was stated in the monthly progress report of 20 Point Programme for the month of June.

To improve the biodiversity of the forest, enrichment plantation over an area of 108 hectares is being done. The Horticulture wings of Municipal Corporation and Engineering Department are undertaking replacement planting and gap filling.
