TN CM urges RBI, Centre to take steps to control price hike
Chennai, Jul 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today urged the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Centre to take all steps to control the spiralling prices.
He made this appeal to RBI Governor Dr Y V Reddy, when the latter called on him at the State Secretariat here, an official release said, and described the meeting as a courtesy call.
Dr Reddy assured Mr Karunanidhi that all efforts were being made to control the rising prices and also detailed the steps being taken both by the RBI and the Centre in this regard.
During the meeting, Dr Reddy appreciated the fiscal position of the Tamil Nadu Government and the cooperation being extended by it to the RBI.
Mr Karunanidhi also explained the measures taken by his Government in protecting the people from the rising prices and the steps taken under the special Public Distribution System.
Chief Secretary L K Tripathy, Finance Secretary Gnanadesikan and RBI Zonal Director Joseph, were also present during the meeting.
