Tiruchirapalli, July 9 (UNI) Justifying the Left Parties' decision to withdraw support to the Congress-led UPA Government to the Centre on the nuclear deal issue, CPI Tamil Nadu Secretary D Pandiyan today said the Party's central Committee would meet at New Delhi on July 12 and 13 to discuss the current political scenario.
Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Pandiyan said despite repeated pleas, the UPA Government never took any measure to curb inflation while it adopted an authoritarian stand on the nuclear pact with the US.
Warning of further increase in inflation, Mr Pandiyan said instead of taking steps to control price rise, both Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram were asking the people to come to terms with soaring prices, which was unfortunate.
He also informed the party's three-day National Council Meet would be held at New Delhi from August three.
On PDS, Mr Pandiyan criticised Tamil Nadu saying rice meant for PDS was being smuggled to even neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar.
He demanded the State Government to curb rice smuggling and streamline the existing PDS system besides expanding it for the benefit of the poor.
Since education in Tamil Nadu had become a 'pure commercial venture,' the party would launch ''To Save Education'' Movement shortly, he added.
