Hykon inks pact with Chinese firm to manufacture CFL tubes

Kochi, July 9 (UNI) Hykon India (P) Ltd., a leading player in the Indian power electronics and energy efficient products manufacturing sector, has tied up with Chinese Sinyu Lighting Engineering Co. Ltd.

to produce and import T5 linear energy-saving fluorescent tubes.

Sinyu, a leading exporter of fluorescent tubes and lighting sets, will manufacture the tubes at its plant in Shangyu, based on circuit designs supplied by Hykon.

In a press release here today, Mr Christo George, CMD, Hykon, said the agreement was not only to import lighting systems from a Chinese firm. Instead, it was an understanding to share their inherent strengths and produce quality materials jointly.

Hykon has provided the technology to Sinyu Lighting Engineering Company for the mass production of energy-saving fluorescent tubes for import to India. The circuits were designed by Hykon, to suit specific Indian conditions and were handed over to the Chinese firm for mass production. In the long run, the Indian company will manufacture the tubes locally with imported parts, he added.

Besides T5 lamps, Hykon will also import aquarium lamps, plant growth lamps and black light lamps to allure mosquitoes and other insects and kill them.
