Govt to have structural audit of all buildings in the state
Mumbai, Jul 9 (UNI) Maharashtra government today decided to have a structural audit of all buildings in the state, under which owners and cooperative housing societies will have to obtain a certificate of stability from the commissioner in case of corporations and chief officer of government bodies.
A decision to this effect was taken at the cabinet meeting here, presided over by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Buildings under all the corporations and other bodies in the state are covered by today's decision, official sources said.
If the owners of the building do not resort to repairs, wherever needed, penalties will be imposed upon them, as per the rules of the various local self-government bodies.
