Five bodies still missing, capsized boat brought to shore

Hyderabad, Jul 9 (UNI) Five bodies of elite Greyhounds jawans, including a Home Guard, were still missing in Balimela reservoir where the Maoists attack took place ten days ago, even as the boat was recovered from the deep water and brought to the shore last night.

Speaking to newspersons at the spot, Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police (SP) A Sabarwal said five bodies were found in the cabin of the capsized launch and three more traced in the water at the Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) area .

Of the 33 bodies retrieved from the reservoir, four jawans succumbed to naxal bullet injuries and the remaining drowned.

Stating that one Home Guard and four Greyhound jawans were still missing, he said one 303 rifle, 9 AK 47 rifles, 3 SLRs and kit bags had been recovered from the boat.

He said 66 Greyhound constables, civil police officers and crew were in the boat when the naxals attacked them.
