Congress keen to have electoral alliance with SP in UP
Lucknow, Jul 9 (UNI) Even as uncertainty over the UPA government's survival still hangs in the balance, Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh have expressed their keen desire to have a 'complete' electoral alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) for the Lok Sabha election.
''Though there is some minor opposition over the proposed alliance, still a majority of the Congressmen feel that the alliance would prove a miracle for the party, which is fighting for its political survival in the state,'' UPCC secretary and Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat Praveen Rashtrapal told mediapersons here.
Congress would be benefitted with the alliance in the state, he noted.
Mr Rashtrapal, in-charge of UP, said every Congressman in UP wanted this alliance as it was the only option left to strengthen the party in the state.
However, the Congress leader, who held a meeting of six districts of Lucknow division today over the preparation for the Lok Sabha election, said barring one district, all supported the alliance with the SP.
