Pondy: PMO extends Fin aid to Tsunami affected
Puducherry, Jul 8: The Prime Ministers Office (PMO) has extended a financial assistance of Rs 12.28 lakh to the tsunami-affected children of Karaikal region in the Union Territory.
PMK parliamentary party leader Prof M Ramadass, in a statement here today said as many as 341 children of fishermen in Karaikal had applied for educational assistance to the PMO through the Puducherry Government.
The PMO accepted to pay Rs 3,600 per annum to each of the applicant and accordingly, a cheque for Rs 12,27,600 has been sent to the territorial administration, he said adding that those who applied for assistance could get it from the Education Department.
