Oil tanker wagons derail at Ambala Station
Ambala, Jul 8 (UNI) The rail traffic on Ambala-Saharanpur section was affected for several hours after five oil tanker wagons derailed at platform number 2 of the Ambala Cantonment Railway Station late last night.
Though no casualties were reported in the incident, the compartments of a express train standing at platform number 1 were damaged from outside by the derailed wagon. The rail tracks were also badly damaged in the incident.
The railway officials including the Ambala Divisional Manager H R Jaggi reached the station to supervise the restoration work. Cranes were pressed into service to bring the derailed wagons on line which took hours till early in the morning.
Mr Jaggi said that the trains coming on the two platforms were diverted to other platforms till the track was repaired. He said an enquiry into the incident had been ordered.
