July Sys launches MiSMS, partners NDTV Convergence

New Delhi, Jul 8 (UNI) Eyeing growing number of mobile internet users, July Systems today said it has partnered with NDTV Convergence to launch 'MiSMS' for providing innovative content over mobile.

''There are about 106 million users of mobile internet compared to 28 million in the US. This number is set to grow further and with a service-based on SMS, we are easing the user experience of surfing internet over his mobile,'' NDTV Convergence CEO Sanjay Trehan told reporters here.

NDTV Convergence Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NDTV Networks Plc and develops exclusive content for cross-media platforms such as internet, mobiles, iTV and IPTV.

The user can send an SMS in form of MiSTO (for stocks), MiNEWS (for news), MiCRI (for cricket) at normal charges to 56388, and he will get the link to the page, which he can access easily.

July has accomodated 1,800 types of phones in its systems to finetune the page settings. The service will deliver live, personalised, interactive and multimedia experience on the phone.

NDTV expects to garner revenues worth one million dollars in the first year of the partnership. ''This will be about 10-15 per cent of the revenues of NDTV Convergence,'' Mr Tehan said but he refused to talk on the revenue sharing model.

Talking to UNI, July Systems Co-Founder and President Rajesh T S Reddy said he is in discussions with other media brands as well for providing content.

''We will also bring out the service in regional languages. But how long will that take, is difficult to tell now,'' he said.
