ESIC to start Medical PG Courses in 12 ESI Hospitals

New Delhi, Jul 8 (UNI) The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is going to start Medical PG Courses in 12 ESI hospitals throughout the country from next year.

The Corporation is also going to open its medical services for the workers of the unorganised sector, which bacame possible after an Ordinance was brought by the Government affecting an amendment in the ESI Act, 1948, Minister for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), Oscar Fernandes, said at the 143rd meeting of the ESIC here today.

The ESIC approved construction of eight new hospitals at Manesar (Haryana), Haldia (West Bengal), Peeniya (Karnataka), Haridwar, Udhamsingh Nagar (Uttarakhand), Tirupur,Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) and Ankleshwer (Gujarat). The Corporation also approved recruitment regulation for teaching faculty that will pave way for the Medical Post Graduate Courses.

The Corporation approved enhancement of expenses for confinement taking place outside ESI Dispensaries and hospitals from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500 for reimbursement to the insured woman and the insured person in respect of his wife.

The Corporation has also approved an amendment in the processing of revolving fund that will help the ESI beneficiaries in availing a super-speciality treatment.

The minister congratulated the ESIC Director General, his team and staff for taking the organisation to a new level and improving the facilities being provided to the beneficiaries as well as improving its image.
