CM sanctions Rs 15 crore for celebrations of Sikh Guru Govind
Bidar July 8 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today announced a grant of Rs 15 crore for the developmental works during the tri-centenary celebrations of Guru Govind Singh birth anniversary on his visit to this fort city.
Speaking to newspersons after visiting the historic Gurudwara in the city, which was gearing up to celebrate the 300th birth anniversary of Guru Govind Singh, Mr Yeddyurappa said the State would release the fund to beef up the developmental works being undertaken by the authorities to receive lakhs of sikh devotees expected to throng the event.
The month-long celebrations will be held from October two to November six.
The Chief Minister said the government would develop the revered Lalakjee Gurudwara Bidar, which is one of the most sacred shrine for the Sikh community.
After offering prayers in the Gurudwara, Mr Yeddyurappa said the government would release the funds soon to develop the Gurudwara, respecting the sentiments of Sikhs.
The Chief Minister, who attended marriage of the son of a former BJP legislator Prakash Khandre here, said the government had sanctioned Rs three crore to construct a civil passenger terminal in the Bidar defence airport.
