Man turned into woman worries about wife's future

Hisar, Jul 7 (UNI) Vishal of Juglan village near here, who is now known as Anu after he got his sex changed, is worried about his wife and daughter's future.

''My parents helped me overcome the natural deficiency and disorder in my body through an operation and treatment but I am now worried about my young wife Isha and one-and-half year old daughter Ishita,'' said the 26-year-old, who was married three years ago but now turned into a woman after undergoing a sex change operation in New Delhi. The operation done with the consent of his family cost him Rs three lakh.

''My parents and two brothers have assured me to look after my daughter and ensure her a bright future,'' Anu said.

''The search for a groom for Isha is on within the family and my father is hopeful to solemnise her re-marriage with a suitable boy of our family.'' In reply to a question about his own re-marriage, he said, ''The change of sex has not been done for the purpose of re-marriage. I have been tolerating the agony and discomfort of imbalance in my body for long and now after change of sex I feel at ease.'' ''As a boy I was a health freak visiting gym daily and maintained a brawny body. Now my behaviour and body have become womanish. Now I won't be able to move freely alone on my bike. I am not in New York where gays and all trans-sexuals move freely in society. I shall have to respect the local culture and traditions and live as other women live in our society,'' said Anu, who has done a course in fashion designing from Guru Jambheshwar University and runs a tailoring shop in Hisar.

''There are thousands of boys and girls in the country who are facing the similar problems. I tell them to be bold and to come forward, strive to eradicate the stigma from their lives. It is not a sin or crime.'' His father OP Sura said, ''Though it was difficult and painful we have compromised with the situation. My next responsibility is to settle down his young wife Isha.
