Top HM militant arrested, major tragedy averted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 6 (UNI) Security forces arrested a top Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant and averted a major tragedy in the Kashmir valley today, official sources said.

They said a self styled Battalion Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested by the security forces during the search operation at Ganderbal and recovered one hand grenade.

Security forces averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Kokernag in Kashmir district of Anantnag.

A police constable was injured in an encounter with militants during a search operation at Zainapora in Shopian.
