PDP concerned over safety of shrine in J
Srinagar, Jul 6 (UNI) Expressing anguish over the alleged sacrilege of Jehab Sahib Soura shrine, house of the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it was concerned about the safety and protection of shrines in Jammu and Kashmir.
A PDP spokesman said the atmosphere in the state is charged and vested interests who were bent upon causing further deterioration by hurting the sentiments of the people.
He said the leaders of the PDP were deeply anguished over the sacrilege of the shrine and were also concerned about the safety and protection of other shrines in the state.
He said a high level meeting was convened today to take stock of the situation, the PDP leaders and legislators appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony.
He said the PDP will play its role to maintain the integrity of the state and uphold the democratic norms while advancing on its political agenda.
The spokesman said the PDP have faith in the people that they will defeat the designs of enemies of peace and brokers of power to get the state out of crisis to which it has been plunged into.
