Over 15 lakh children administered polio drops in Haryana

Chandigarh, Jul 6 (UNI) As many as 15.86 lakh children below the age of five years were today administered polio drops in Haryana during the first day of Sub-National Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation round in the districts of Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mewat, Rohtak, Panchkula , Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Yamunanagar and Sonipat.

Disclosing this here today, Health Minister Kartar Devi said that about 26 lakh children would be covered in this three -day campaign. The campaign would continue for two more days by way of house-to-house activity by specially constituted teams of the Health Department which would administer polio drops to left out children below five years of age.

The Minister said that as many as 9950 booths were set up in these districts which were manned by 40,000 health officials, volunteers and anganwari workers. About 2000 officers and officials supervised the pulse polio activity apart from nodal officers from the state headquarter.

A massive publicity campaign was launched earlier to inform the people about this campaign through print and electronic media.
