Fresh batch of 1718 yatris leave for Amarnath
Jammu, Jul 6: A fresh batch of 1718 pilgrims left for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir despite clement weather and curfew in the winter capital.
A caravan of 38 buses, 10 LMVs and a truck carrying 1718 pilgrims, including 465 women, 49 children and 130 Sadhus, proceeded for the shrine from Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 0510 hrs, an official spokesman told UNI.
The two-month-long pilgrimage from Amarnath shine, which had commenced from Jammu on July 17, was not affected by the continued curfew restrictions since June 1.
However, since its commencement, the pilgrimage was suspended many times due to heavy rush of pilgrims at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps and bad weather.
