Imphal, July 4, 2008 : In a rare instance in India's insurgency-hit Manipur state, five insurgents of the People's United Liberation Front or PULF surrendered on Wednesday.

The five rebels formally laid down arms before the state"s Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at a ceremony in Imphal. Singh, while assuring rehabilitation of the rebels who quit, urged other underground groups to come forward for talks.
