Raje govt not bound to provide relief from inflation : BJP
Jaipur, Jul 4 (UNI) The BJP today said despite party President Rajnath Singh's advice, the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan was not constitutionally bound to take steps to provide relief to people reeling under spiralling inflation.
Talking to reporters here, party spokesman and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the prevailing problem of price rise and inflation was due to the ''wrong policies and mis-governance'' by the UPA government at the Centre and the Union government could not transfer its liability to deal with the situation to the state governments.
The BJP was anxious over the situation and hence Mr Singh had advised governments in BJP-ruled states to take possible measures to provide relief to the people, he said.
''The Rajasthan government will also take possible steps keeping in mind its own financial obligations and budgetary needs,'' Mr Rudy added.
