Police sieze fake certificates from Golkonda University

Hydrabad, Jul 4 (UNI) The city police today arrested one person posing himself as Director of Golkonda University and seized fake certificates of various universities following raids.

On a tip-off, police apprehended the accused and seized three computers, two printers, 25,000 filled and unfilled fake certificates, lamination machine, stamps and cash worth Rs 7600 from the premises of the university he was purportedly running, according to a release here today.

On interrogation, the accused confessed that he had a tie-up with different universities in the country for offering distance education and collected application forms from the students and forwarded them to the universities concerned. But he could not get proper services from the universities. Then he himself started the Golkonda University and attracted students by giving advertisements.

The accused used to prepare fake certificates for students according to their requirements by taking huge amounts for various courses without conducting any examination, police said.

He had been running the institution since 1995 and had issued a number of certificates to the students and used to earn Rs 75,000 to Rs one lakh per month through the illegal business of preparing fake certificates.
